Healthcare in Las Cruces

Las Cruces residents enjoy the finest available health care from caring professionals. A vibrant, growing community is also a healthy community. For us, combining the long tradition of reliable service with leading-edge technology is an everyday task.

MountainView Regional Medical Center
MountainView Regional Medical Center which opened in 2002, brought a new state-of-the-art hospital to Las Cruces and Southern New Mexico. The new hospital brings choices in healthcare and desirable features to the people of the area, including spacious, all-private patient rooms and a full-service emergency room.

MountainView helps meet the demand for the ever-increasing need of modern healthcare with a specialized cardiology center, comprehensive intensive care services, and a specialized women's center. These services are complemented by an in- and out-patient surgical center and a skilled nursing unit, working from a large, connected medical office building. In addition, MountainView hosts a wide range of community education and prevention programs.

A steering committee of local businesspersons, doctors and nurses has been instrumental in the planning and development of MountainView, assuring that the new facility will meet the needs of the entire area. When it comes to healthcare, choices are in view!

Memorial Medical Center
Memorial Medical Center is the only acute care hospital presently serving Dona Ana County. Over 159,000 people depend on MMC for specialized medical/surgical care, health education, outreach services and emergency services. The hospital is proud of its mission to lead collaborative efforts to improve health and deliver quality health services in southern New Mexico communities. The entire MMC staff is dedicated to the values of community focus, commitment to quality and financial strength.

Every year Memorial Medical Center reassesses how it can best fulfill its mission. To further this goal, MMC recently became a community not-for-profit organization, still owned by the city and county but operated and maintained by MMC, Inc. Now, while maintaining its strong allegiance to the people they have always cared for, MMC is also able to pursue new options for healthcare delivery and growth. MMC is one of the largest employers in Dona Ana County, paying approximately $46.8 million each year in the form of wages, benefits, taxes, etc. for local staff of over 1,400 people.

MMC is an important community partner, which spends approximately $2.71 million with local businesses each year for supplies, utilities, maintenance, leases and rentals.

MMC is dedicated to community care whose annual budget of $100 million provides:

  • 12,034 inpatient stays, including 2,579 births
  • 40,000 emergency room visits
  • 354,000 lab procedures
  • 4,000 skilled nursing care days
